Upon attending the CAI Mountain Conference in 2019, there was a class being taught by the Colorado Bureau of Investigation regarding cyber crimes taking place in the HOA industry. Primary attacks are taking place in romantic scams, people posing as potential lovers online only with the intention to use people to extract money or have them be a hub for money transfers. For business owners they brought up the fact that if there are any businesses that are not in good standing with the Secretary of State criminals may reactivate and put them in good standing. Take out loans or other lines of credit such as purchasing cell phones with no intention on paying the debt. This leaves the business owners liable for the crime.
